XPLORE DARTMOUTH IS THE OFFICIAL MARKETING ORGANISATION FOR
DARTMOUTH,. Our remit is to provide tourist information and market Dartmouth as a destination in order to raise its profile. As there is no central government funding for Tourism in the UK, and limited grants from local councils, our work is entirely funded by the businesses who partner with us. 2025 was only our second year in business, but it proved to be a very busy one, as we continued to develop our plans and raise our profile in Dartmouth and beyond. As a team we have learnt a lot over those 12 months, and we are now able to look forward to 2026 with real clarity in terms of what needs to be done. We thought you might be interested in what exactly we do, so here is a quick run down! ■ We manage our visitor website:
exploredartmouth.co.uk. It is designed to inspire visitors by showcasing everything that makes Dartmouth a great place to visit. Two key features are the 52 blogs we post a year, and our WhatsOn page, which is the most comprehensive listing of events in Dartmouth that you will find anywhere online. ■ We also manage Explore Dartmouth’s social media, posting regular content highlighting the vibrancy of our town, its stunning location and rich heritage, as well as
the stories that make Dartmouth a magical place. We tag and collaborate with Dartmouth businesses, festivals and other social media teams to create as much collective noise about Dartmouth as we can, and our viewing figures are showing rapid growth. ■ We launched the Explore Dartmouth App in May 2025, as a quick reference tool for visitors already in Dartmouth or booked to visit Dartmouth, including an interactive map showing all our Partner businesses. ■ We manage the Dartmouth Visitor Centre, and welcomed over 47,000 visitors in 2025 - open 6 days a week from February Half Term to Christmas Eve. ■ We issued a press release which was picked up by online news organisations with a total reach of over 13 million. A lot of these activities are carried out by our fantastic team of volunteers – in fact we provided over 3,000 volunteer hours in 2025, which averages 8 hours a day every day of the year! So we owe a huge thank you to each and every one of them. There is, however, more to do for
Dartmouth. Without enough visitors across the year Dartmouth can’t sustain the vibrancy we all know and love. It is a big challenge: we rely on businesses to step up and provide our funding; our resource is
stretched; visitors are struggling with the cost of living crisis; and potential visitors have so many options to choose from nowadays, which makes it hard to stand out from the crowd. And yet we start 2026 with a distinct air of optimism, because Dartmouth is our secret weapon! We have a new visitor guide (including an update of the beautiful ImageMakers map) which demonstrates just how much Dartmouth has to offer visitors – not just in a single visit, but time and time again. We have plenty more businesses who can partner with us, and we now have the data to prove we offer value for money. We are busting myths with our blogs, clearly demonstrating Dartmouth is not a seasonal town, that there is just as much to do in the off season, and that there really is something for everyone here. And we are connecting with other organisations across the town to share our expertise in order to get Dartmouth’s voice heard. So follow us on socials, use our WhatsOn page on the website to make the most of the events in Dartmouth, and come and get a new visitor guide from the Visitor Centre. We think we’ll surprise you with things you didn’t know about your Town – and if you want to be part of a friendly, dynamic and highly motivated team that is making a difference, then get in touch:
