46 Advertising feature A strong start to 2026 I
t has been a strong start to 2026 at Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood, with three auctions already under the belt. Highlights include a large Chinese famille
verte baluster vase from the Qing dynasty, which sold for £8,500 (hammer price) in the first auction of the year. Decorated with an elaborate court scene and bordered with butterflies and a pale-yellow line, this vase far exceeded the estimate of £200-300. In the same auction, a George II yew wood parquetry table ignited a fierce bidding battle, with the hammer eventually coming down at £7,500. In our first Silver, Watches and Jewellery Auction of the
year, the competitive metal prices meant that bidding was strong across all categories. An antique (probably late Georgian or early Victorian) diamond cluster ring more than doubled its estimate of £800- 1000, bringing in £2,400. Another Victorian ring, set with diamonds and pearls, similarly more than doubled its estimate, selling for £1,100 (hammer price). Silver likewise performed exceptionally well, with a Victorian four-piece silver tea and coffee

coming in at £1,700 (hammer price). And our first ever dedicated Stamp Auction
