48 NEWS FROM

DARTMOUTH TOWN COUNCIL

If there’s something you’d like to see featured in future editions, or you have a question about any of the work we’re doing, don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re here to serve Dartmouth - and we always want to hear from you. hello@dartmouthtowncouncil.gov.uk

TOWN COUNCILLORS

As you may have noticed, Dartmouth Town Council still needs to appoint two new councillors to bring us up to the full complement of 16 serving members. Our councillors come from a range of backgrounds and bring different skills, experiences and perspectives to the table — all with one shared goal, to serve the town and its community as effectively as possible. Although we are seeking new members, we have recently appointed three new councillors, and are pleased to welcome: Connie Birss, Jim Pittman, Debbie Burgess to the team. All three have joined with real enthusiasm and a genuine desire to become positively involved in their work as councillors as soon as possible. They have already begun learning the ropes, contributing to discussions, and getting to grips with everything that helps keep the town of Dartmouth running smoothly. Being a town councillor is a voluntary role, but it plays a vital part in shaping local decisions - from community projects and services to representing residents’ views; with two vacancies still available, there is also an opportunity for more local people to step forward and help make a difference. If you are curious about what the Council does, who your councillors are, or how you might get involved in the future, we would love to hear from you.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT REORGANISATION

Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) is looming large on the town’s horizon and the government has just launched a public consultation on LGR in Devon; it concludes on 26th March.

For more information go to https://www.devonlgr.co.uk.

We all need to be involved in contributing our thoughts about the future of our town and what will happen as a result of this government initiative. The impact on our community is yet to be determined but it could be significant, so we need to be prepared for what is to come and councillors who are truly invested in the future of this town will be a vital part of this process.
