New UKLA President

John Alton of Morris Lubricants is the new President of the United Kingdom Lubricants Association. He takes over from David Jukes, who has served as President since April 2008. There will be an official ‘hand over’ of the chain of office at the UKLA Annual Dinner on 7th November 2012 in London, UK.

John has had considerable experience in the lubricants industry having worked with two leading independent family companies for many years.

He started his career as an Engineering Apprentice at Rolls Royce & Bentley Motors Crewe, UK. After several years as a Design Draftsman he moved into the oil industry with Silkolene Oils, Belper, Derbyshire, UK as a Sales Engineer progressing to Sales & Marketing Director together with responsibility for Product Development. During this period Silkolene became established as a leading brand in the UK market for specialist high performance motor cycle oils.

He left Silkolene in 1989, to join Morris & Company to run their Lubricants Division in Shrewsbury as Chief Executive, a position he retained until handing over to a member of the family Andrew Goddard as Managing Director, four years ago. John continues as Commercial Director of Morris Lubricants responsible for developing their successful home and export markets.
