EVENTS Smart Manufacturing & Engineering Week
The UKLA is taking part in this year’s Smart Manufacturing & Engineering Week (SM&E Week) at the NEC Birmingham, UK on 5th and 6th June. The association will both have a stand in Hall 5 (5-B52/DAC) and Tina Reading will be delivering a presentation on both days of the event on the topic of Sustainability in the European Lubricants Industry.
We recommend that members of UKLA schedule a visit as SM&E Week has become the key focal point for the UK’s engineering and manufacturing community. It comprises six interrelated exhibitions Smart Factory Expo, Drives & Controls, Maintec, Fluid Power & Systems, Air-Tech and Design Engineering Expo as well as hosting a huge number of related activities and almost 150 ‘free to attend’ educational presentations.
As well as encompassing two summits on manufacturing and a symposium on robotics and automation the event will play host to a ‘Best of
British’ showcase where Richard Noble OBE will be displaying the latest tech behind his ThrustWSH project and Made Smarter will bring together 40 ground breaking business, some start-ups, to demonstrate the latest technology and thinking in the sector.
Finally, in this very short round up, the event is far apart from being a dusty, dry event and it strives for a high energy, festival type atmosphere aided by such activities as the Guitar Legends competition (where entrants can win a 3D printed guitar) and the Day 1 after event party (to which all are invited) with live music by The Shadow Monkeys.
We certainly hope we see you there. To attend Smart Manufacturing & Engineering Week 2024 register online.
