All shades of green lubricants

Green lubricants, also known as eco-lubricants, bio-based lubricants, or bio-lubes, are environmentally friendly lubricants that are rapidly or partially biodegradable and considered as nontoxic for the environment. They are primarily based on bio- or renewable resources, have low toxicity, and are efficient in saving energy and preserving the environment. The
definition of “green lubricants” is broad and unclear, mainly referring to the origin of base fluids.
According to the CEN/TC 19/WG 33 (Comité europeén de Normalisation) issued technical report the minimum requirements for green lubricants are: (DIN CEN/TR 16227:2011)
