Editor’s Desk

A very Happy New Year to you all and welcome to the first Lube Magazine of 2024, which is focused on Base Oils and Packaging. Thank you to our fabulous contributors which include, amongst others, Dr Raj Shah, Dr Mushfiq Hassan, Dr

Boris Zhmud, Dr Zorica Davidovic, Jacquie Berryman, Hans Gerdes, Gabriella Twining and Bob Tilling and associates. As part of our STEM commitment we are also featuring Owen Lloyd who has recently been made the Chief Operating Officer at Morris Lubricants. Owen was a former recipient of the UKLA Young Employee of the Year so it is a pleasure to feature how his career has developed since he joined the industry and I believe he is the youngest COO in our industry!

A recent topic of discussion at Lube Expo was how well do we as an industry know our customers? How easy is it to navigate the B2B lubricant landscape? In the dynamic B2B lubricant procurement, a transformative shift is underway. Consumer psychology in the corporate environment, especially in the context of deciding which lubricant supplier to buy from, is a multifaceted and complex topic.

To understand more, Lube magazine, with the support of UKLA, has partnered with Plan Grow Do (about whom you can learn more on page 44) to better understand this new omnichannel, personalised and digitised sales process, the impact on buyers and sellers, and how companies can become more aware of the changing dynamic to adapt their sales processes to make the most of the opportunities in the fast changing and evolving lubricants market. Throughout 2024, every issue will be accompanied by a small survey, we would encourage you and colleagues to participate in. You will receive an anonymised and aggregated summary report on the responses which we hope will be beneficial to your B2B lubricant buyer experience.

In more news from Lube magazine, we are in the final stages of launch our STEM Programme and will be sharing more on this with you over the next couple of months. Again, we hope you participate and work with us to grow this crucial side of talent acquisition, education and succession with our industry.
