The 54th Lubricants & Base Oils Symposium 22 - 24 November 2023, Hotel Esplanade, Zagreb, Croatia


The Croatian Society for Fuels and Lubricants - GOMA has been operating continuously for almost 60 years as a non-profit and non-governmental organisation and it’s still driven by the volunteer work of enthusiasts. GOMA is a member of the Croatian Engineering Association (HIS), which traces its history back to 1875. GOMA is an abbreviation derived from the Croatian words “GOriva i MAziva” which means fuels and lubricants.


One of the most important activities of the Society is the organisation of an international symposium once a year, alternately on fuels or lubricants. The first symposium was held in 1967 and dealt with the topic of fuel and lubricants. These two topics were separated after the 6th symposium in 1972. There was an interruption in the continuity of organising the symposium during the Croatian Homeland War in 1991. The second break was due to the Coronavirus pandemic.


Unfortunately, due to this pandemic, only one symposium has been held in the last 4 years, and that was on the fuel topic. Therefore, we are extremely excited and looking forward to this year’s gathering on the topic of lubricants and base oils. This, the 54th symposium in a row, will be held at the Esplanade Hotel in Zagreb from November 22nd to 24th.


It is an event where more than a hundred participants from Croatia and abroad meet every year. As always, this symposium will be a good opportunity not only for business meetings and building a professional network, but also for seeing old colleagues and friends.
