Editor’s Desk

A warm welcome to our April issue focussed on Metalworking and Greases. An abundance of articles for your delectation and do make sure you are also subscribed to our digital issue if you are reading in print as you will be able to experience our new innovative visual enhancements.

This issue is certainly going far and wide! You will be able to pick up a copy at the following events which I will be attending in person, do say hi and we can talk about forthcoming issues, editorial and contributions:

Nextlub International Conference on Tribology and Sustainable Lubrication 18-19 Apr, Düsseldorf, Germany ELGI 33rd Annual General Meeting 29 Apr – 3 May, Amsterdam, Netherlands 27th ICIS World Base Oils & Lubricants Conference 3-5 May, Windsor, UK OilDoc Conference and Exhibition 9-11 May, Rosenheim, Bavaria CHEMUK 2023

10-11 May, Birmingham, UK UEIL Congress 2023 – Sustainable Value Chains 31 May – 2 Jun, Manchester, UK

As an Industry, these events are critical to how we engage and operate. The recent Argus Media Base Oils Conference in London was hugely successful with global attendees, stimulating seminars and fabulous conversations. That is what is it about really... the conversations. We ask questions, discuss, debate and find solutions. Being the Editor of this publication is such an honour but the really joy is attending such exhibitions and conferences and taking face-to-face with you our readers and contributors. Learning new things and fully appreciating how diverse and dynamic this industry really is, and the people within it!

Industry News & Moves UEIL News VLS

A highlight for me is the UEIL Congress which this year is on home ground! The wonderfully vibrant Cottonopolis that is Manchester. A city steeped in rich industrialisation and economy (plus a rather fab football team, red of course). The UEIL Congress will explore the topic of sustainability along different stages of the value chain, with the aim of understanding and securing the future of the European lubricant manufacturers. We look forward to seeing you there in June as the official journal of the UEIL.
