Annual Awards 2017

The main highlight of the evening for many is the awards ceremony, during which the UKLA recognises new potential within the industry via the Young Employee of the year award, sponsored by IMCD as well as thanking those individuals who are perhaps at a different place in their career and who have given their time and service to the industry to benefit all. The President’s Award sponsored by Infineum and the prestigious UKLA Special Award of Council.

Sakar Pradhan, Q8 Graduating from University with a 1st Sakar chose our industry as he was motivated by the fact that the lubricants industry had not embraced the digital marketing revolution

and believed he could make a difference in the industry.

In his role he has integrated traditional forms of marketing into on-line platforms and activities as well as studying part-time for a Masters in ‘Digital Marketing Leadership’.

Launching and managing a full range of high quality digital marketing platforms means his employer has seen a step-change in their on-line presence. Demonstrating innovation in digital marketing by creating a portal which pulls-in activity and traffic from all on-line and traditional marketing activities.

Through his work he has received recognition both in the UK and internationally. Presenting his work and strategy to marketing teams in other countries including Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy. He has also received requests from customers to support them in developing their on-line marketing, and is regularly approached by other employers inside and outside of the lubricants industry, who have recognised the quality of his work.

His contribution to UKLA has been significant and sustained over an extended period of time as he led the UK Delegation to the European association the UEIL for a number of years and sat on the association as the UK’s Board Director. Latterly and almost singlehandedly he led a project to develop European lubricant market data for UEIL which helped to underpin the association’s policy and lobbying role.

For his contribution to both Boards of the UKLA and VLS, as well as his support for UKLA’s European work, we are pleased to formally recognise the contribution of Sebastian Crawshaw by awarding him the UKLA President’s Award.

Special Award of Council Tim Bates

The work of the European Lubricants Federation UEIL Technical committee is crucial in ensuring a fair and open market across Europe. For the last ten years this committee has been headed up by a gentleman well known to many of you, a gentleman who has worked tirelessly to challenge restrictive and anti-competitive practices amongst Original Equipment Manufacturers.

In a voluntary and unpaid role, Tim has devoted three days a week alongside his other business interests including until recently managing an independent lubricants business GB Lubricants based in Gateshead, touring all of Premiership grounds in the country and taking the occasional wine tour to France.

Tim also sits on the Board of VLS, a subsidiary of UKLA which validates and verified the performance characteristics and technical specification of Lubricant products

UKLA is pleased to honour the dedication and service to the European lubricants sector of Tim Bates by awarding him the UKLA Special Award of Council.

After the awards ceremony, the evening concluded with colleagues networking amongst old acquaintances and making new contacts to share ideas and exchange experiences.

UKLA looks forward to welcoming guests to next year’s Annual Dinner as we continue our work to represent the UK Lubricants Industry and our members’ interests to both UK and European Governments, help our members improve their own organisational capability, and fully meet the challenges that lie ahead.
