ATIEL. In 2017, UKLA worked with colleagues in FIGIEFA, the European Aftermarket Federation, representing the views of the sector to UK Government officials at the Department for Transport to ensure fair access to Technical Information, following reform of the type approval regulation.

In addition to its core representation role, UKLA also provides members with industry networking events and knowledge sharing, through training and updates on developments in the industry and legislation. Since January we have welcomed over 600 colleagues to our Spring RAF lunch, our Golf Day, our Northern Lunch held in Manchester in September, and our Annual Dinner in London.

Training has gone from strength to strength through The Certificate of Lubricant Competence course, now refreshed and developed with the input of member companies including Infineum, Total, Chevron, Q8, Afton, RS Clare and Houghton. An Executive Briefing is available for senior managers and the Introduction to Lubricants course for new industry entrants. Seminars this year have included an update of the ACEA 2016 Engine Oil Sequences with Ford Motor Company and BP Castrol. European Policy Updates for members were held in the spring and autumn showcasing our work with UEIL and a Social Media Seminar was held in May. A new programme of seminars is planned for next year in order to further increase the value of membership to companies.
