The ERGTC’s strategy advocates the testing of isolated substances, where possible, but which also considers the chemical properties of grease thickeners and their use within a grease matrix. An initial flow chart (Figure 2) has been developed to show how the results from bioavailability testing could be used as part of the ERGTC REACH registration strategy. This


flowchart is not definitive and is being refined based on the results from ongoing experimental work.
