Collins remains hungry to spend more time at the top

Suzanne Collins reaps what she has sown with a second week at the head of a tight chasing pack

D Week ending 29th March 2025

espite a two-thirds drop in sales after a blockbuster launch, Suzanne Collins has remained at the

summit of the Official UK Top 50 with Sunrise on the Reaping (Scholastic) – the fifth book released in the Hunger Games series. With sales of 39,370 copies

through Nielsen BookScan’s Total Consumer Market in the past seven days, Sunrise on the Reaping nearly doubled the performance of its nearest rival – Lee and Andrew Child’s In Too Deep (Penguin Transworld), the latest Jack Reacher paperback. The brothers have

scored first-week sales of 20,572 units, an impressive performance for most, but down 12.5% on the first week of the previous instal- ment’s The Secret in 2024. But In Too Deep is the highest of

11 new entries into this week’s Official Top 50 – which includes seven re-entries as well, following the end of the World Book Day redemption period. Gozzle (Macmillan) – Julia Donaldson’s latest collaboration with illustrator Sara Ogilvie – debuts in seventh place in the Top 10, with 8,187 copies sold. The Hospital Dog – the previ- ous title from Donaldson and Ogilvie – shifted 2,076 units in its

first week in October 2020, giving the pair a rise of 294.4% increase. Thanks to the exodus of World

Book Day books there are a lot of re-entries in the Children’s chart, but only one other new entry – Jamie Smart’s Bunny vs Monkey: The Whopping World of Puzzles (DFB Phoenix). The latest in the comic-strip series has seen sales of 4,032 copies in its first week – 33.7% more than the paperback edition of Bunny Bonanza managed upon its publication in January. In the week running up to

Mother’s Day, Kristin Hannah’s The Women (Pan) saw a 48.9% rise in sales – with 13,399 copies enough to push it to third place in the TCM, just ahead of Marian Keyes’ My Favourite Mistake (Penguin), which saw a 27.5% volume increase. Eight slots in the Top 10 this

week are taken up with fiction paperbacks, rounded off by this week’s third-biggest new release – All the Colours of the Dark by Chris Whitaker (Orion). The
