Peter Rhodes is a Lincolnshire-based electrical business with showrooms in Market Rasen and Louth. The company is now owned and run by Joyce Rhodes and her son-in-law Roger Clark, who joined the business in 1991. As part of the company’s long-term strategy, Mr


Clark relocated the Market Rasen store to larger premises 18 months ago. As well as specialising in white and brown goods, the shop offers a full kitchen design planning service under the name Rhodes Fitted Kitchens.

the quality of the product, the freestanding exclusivity, its competitive pricing and the profi tability it offers Euronics agents. Those four elements together plus the support of Euronics agents are what has made the brand a success. Blomberg continues to grow beyond the market level within Euronics and that is all down to retailers, like Roger and his team, that trust in the brand and continue to recommend it to consumers.


Q: Is Peter Rhodes a typical Euronics agent? Is it representative of a lot of the independents Blomberg deals with?


SN: I think Roger’s business is typical of most independents we see. Where it is maybe a little different is that he consolidated his business with his kitchen design studio which adds a different string to his bow. I didn’t see masses of brands in-store which is


interesting because one of the messages we’re trying to give to independents is that, sometimes, less is more.


If you deal with multiple brands you won’t earn enough framework bonuses to make the partnership substantial enough, so we encourage dealers to pick the brands that suit their business the best. That doesn’t mean we’re [Blomberg] always going


to be in that mix but, we’re interested in keeping independents in business and the game can change all the time.


Tracey Woods: The store looks great. It’s clean, it’s bright and all of the featured brands are clearly identifi able. It was a pleasure to walk round.


Q: How would you like to see the relationship


with Blomberg develop? RC: I’m sure our Blomberg business will increase. It’s all about the range of products they select with Euronics. Not so much laundry, but refrigeration and built-in categories, which will help us sell more.


TB: Initially when we fi rst started trading together sales were primarily driven by built-in products with kitchens, however more recently because Roger’s team have gained more confi dence with Blomberg, their product portfolio has extended naturally to include other categories.


TW: There are lots of ways that Blomberg can


support Roger’s business and strengthen the relationship. We can look at training opportunities, increasing in-store POS and offering more digital marketing support.


• We’ll be revisiting both dealers again in a few months to see how their relationship with Blomberg has developed
