Sola Kitchens, Hampstead


The revamp of Sola Kitchens’ showroom in London’s Hampstead sees the introduction of several new designs in keeping with its creative and Scandinavian ethos

ith a small show room, it is a delicate bal an - cing act to be able to showcase a variety of contrasting styles of kitchen, in a way that flows together without looking cluttered. Sola Kitchens owner, Sofia Bune, explains how this was one of the biggest challenges of redesigning the Hampstead showroom. “Being able to showcase a range of


different styles, materials and colours in a small space without making it look cluttered can be difficult,” explains Bune. “We have achieved it here by making sure that the colours and materials harmonise with each other. And even though the styles are different, there is a common thread throughout the showroom.” The high-street studio, which is just a few minutes away from Hampstead tube station, is compact but packs a punch with six impressive displays.


The team at Sola took advantage of the lockdown period to change out displays to include their latest designs in both the Hampstead and Fulham showrooms. Sola Kitchens was founded out of a


desire to bring ‘true’ Scandinavian kitchens to the UK. The style of the kitchens are always unique. Each one is bespoke, but will include a blend of traditional and contemporary features. The mixing of aesthetics is also present in the material choices. For example, the new design Skog, which features a mix of metal and wood. Skog is distinctive with its vertical wooden slats that resemble trees, and it is this that

gives it its name, as ‘skog’ is Swedish for forest. It is those little details that really make a Sola Kitchen.


Cosmic is a dark kitchen with black marble finishes, while Classic is lighter with white splashbacks and worktops. Two other designs featured in the


showroom are Ultra Matt Black, another dark kitchen that sits opposite the Cosmic Skog display. Then there is Tactical Tiles, a kitchen design based around the distinctive look of Yuki porcelain tiles. At the back of the showroom is the designers’ workspace, where they can work on their projects away from the shop floor. Customer presentations often happen within the space on the two kitchen islands. According to Bune, Sola Kitchens offers so many design possibilities that no showroom, even if it were 100 times the size of the Hampstead space, could fit them all in. The showroom is a vital source of inspiration and allows the consumer to get a real feel for how a Sola kitchen may look in their own home. It also allows the designers to demonstrate the variety of kitchen appliances available. However, to show the full scope of what they can do, they also photograph every finished project to show clients.


Bune says: “No two kitchens we design


are the same, and everything we create is completely bespoke. The showroom acts as a source of inspiration, and we will use what we have on display in the showrooms, together with other samples and pictures, to put together the perfect combination for each of our clients.”
