Smith Myers, the Global Leader in Airborne Cellular Identification, Geolocation and Communications Solutions, Announces Release of Artemis+
Smith Myers, creator of the multi-award-winning Artemis range of mobile phone detection, location and communication systems, announces the launch of its Artemis+ next- generation system.
Since its introduction into the world of search and rescue, new customers and users have been finding different ways to leverage this new and unique sensor that’s acknowledged as the industry gold standard. Recent contract awards from organizations covering sectors that include long-range maritime patrol, aerial firefighting and border/pollution control reflect this broadening scope. The system has also proven invaluable with new law enforcement and military customers.
“The effectiveness of Artemis across a broad range of use cases has become clear as we continue to field more systems in different roles,” explained Andrew Munro, managing director of Smith Myers. “We have continued to hone and evolve the capability to meet these new demands. The release of Artemis+ takes the sensor into new operational environments with new customers, as we enter the second half of 2024 with a strong order book of over 100 systems across multi-year programs.”
Artemis+ builds on the features of the groundbreaking Artemis systems, introducing a raft of additional capabilities. Existing Artemis systems are compatible with this new capability set and can be upgraded with a simple software update.

Overwatch Imaging’s Automated Sensor Operator for FMV Gimbals
ASO is the world’s first automation software upgrade for video gimbals.
Overwatch Imaging’s Automated Sensor Operator (ASO) software acts like an autopilot for otherwise manual-intensive FMV gimbals, controlling sensor steering and image collection, data analysis and mission-specific intelligence delivery. ASO lives on the edge, analyzes image data in real-time with mission-specific AI, CV and ML, and distills the sensor stream down to actionable intelligence for rapid reporting and review. Use cases include:
• Wildfire intelligence
• Rapid mapping • Maritime search and ISR • •
• Vehicle detection
With Overwatch ASO, operators can toggle between standard manual mode and ASO mode that leverages sophisticated software to optimize sensor settings and data collection based on mission profile. The result is powerful automation capabilities and reduced
operator workloads, increased
speed of intelligence delivery, and real-time situational awareness for tactical and strategic leadership.
