Northern Territory, Australia, signed purchase agreements for a Schweizer 300C and a 300CBi. The aircraft are already in production and will be delivered in early 2025.
“We have always had a passion for Schweizer helicopters, and I believe they are the safest two-seat helicopters in the world today,” says Finniss River and HeliPoint Australia Owner Dan Elliott. “We plan to replace our fleet of Robinson R22s across our family of companies. After meeting with David and the Schweizer family, we instantly knew we wanted to be more involved with the company. We operate a large number of hours every year and see the S300 line boosting cashflow and minimizing downtime for the aircraft in our business.”
Finniss River and its sister company, Fitzroy Helicopters in Fitzroy Crossing, Western Australia, together operate more than 25 aircraft that perform scenic flights and custom tours, utility and long-line operations, aerial livestock mustering, and custom charters.
The aircraft on order will be utilized primarily for Finniss River’s main operation, livestock mustering, while the 300C with its included cargo hook will also perform sling-load operations. The aircraft were ordered with a cargo box, custom paint scheme, USB/power plug, special cyclic grips, two-position landing lights, and cargo hook (S300C only), and are configured for left-side pilot-in-command.

“We are thrilled to welcome HeliPoint to the Schweizer family of Authorized Sales and Service Centers,” says Schweizer President and CEO David Horton. “Northern Australia is a rugged, wildly beautiful part of the world that depends on reliable, safe helicopters to meet the needs of its communities. Without the need for costly mandatory overhauls every 2,200 hour, which are made more costly by the area’s isolation, Schweizer is ideally suited to both deliver on performance and provide a platform for profitability. With HeliPoint located in Darwin, operators around the region will have timely access to parts and service to reduce downtime and save money.”
