from the selection and installation of all furniture, soft furnishings, artwork, and decorative accessories, to bespoke fitted joinery, thoughtfully designed decorative lighting arrangements and scene-setting, and a complete, intuitive internal signage package. Importantly, we were able to collaborate from the project’s inception, allowing us to proactively shape and enhance the building’s internal aesthetics and optimise the flow of its spaces. This collaborative approach ensured a cohesive, coordinated, and harmonious end result. “We were focused on addressing the
specific needs of residents, giving careful consideration to the challenges of sight and hearing loss, the general impairments associated with ageing, and the early stages of dementia. The building’s design, featuring expansive external windows and large glazed walls between corridors and communal rooms, floods the space with natural light. This, combined with our clear and accessible signage, ensures easy wayfinding. We also carefully managed glare through the use of dimout blinds and sheer curtains, creating a comfortable and visually accessible environment. Floor finishes were also carefully chosen to
maintain a consistent tonal match between spaces, eliminating visual barriers and the perception of steps or holes that could restrict access. The calming colour palettes are punctuated with carefully curated accessories and artwork, providing visual interest without overwhelming the senses. “We paid special attention to the
bedrooms, designing the doors to resemble traditional front doors. This creates a sense of personal space and separation. Bedroom furniture features good contrast against surrounding finishes and rounded corners
for safety. Dimout linings in the curtains control light levels and promote healthy sleep patterns.
“While maintaining a residential aesthetic, all finishes and soft furnishings are contract quality, ensuring easy cleaning and infection control. Upholstery fabrics are waterproof, and all materials have been carefully selected to provide optimal contrast for spatial awareness. Wall finishes in en suites and assisted WCs offer excellent LRV contrast between walls, floors, sanitaryware, and fittings.
