DIGITAL SOLUTIONS

Security and wellbeing for the patients The primary function of communication systems in hospitals and other healthcare facilities is to support people in critical situations and to quickly call for help. That is why reliability and error-free functionality have the highest priority. Systems that use their own networks work independently. This means they are immune to external failure because they are not compromised by failure-prone third-party devices. High quality systems are also self-monitoring, detect errors automatically, and forward detailed error protocols to technically trained staff members. As a supplement to location- independent communication, cutting-edge apps come in handy. With them, the nursing staff has all the relevant information and functions available on their phones at all times: push messages, call queries, a direct communication line to the patient rooms, beds or staff rooms, as well as displaying technical irregularities. Besides the increasing demand for

security, patients have long been asking for first class service at the hospital bed. It is easily observed that a varied offering in entertainment choices also contributes to patients’ wellbeing and supports the healing process. IP-based network technology like that used in our Visocall IP system brings entertainment directly to hospital beds, thereby fulfilling modern demands for modular systems in healthcare facilities. TV screens on walls and at patient beds, as well as audio systems, can be remote-controlled with patient handsets and do not disturb other occupants in shared rooms. By using bedside multimedia terminals, every patient is able listen to, watch, or read whatever they like. Movies, the internet, games, patient advice, and even services like choosing one’s menu can be accessed easily. Different options for patient devices, like classical hand buttons or fully functional remote controls for TVs, provide patients with everything from nurse call and light controls to radio and TV operation as well as VoIP-telephony.

Optimising your investment IP-based network technology is an economically sound, safe, and upgradeable choice for all functions and services in the care industry. This is based on the fact that these systems are made of decentralised components that communicate autonomously with each other. Since there is no central control unit, a total system failure is simply not possible. Even the functionality of the software is modular and can be customised and upgraded step by step according to the customer’s needs and willingness to invest while continuing operations. This is made possible by providing firmware and software updates centrally. Specialised service companies

who handle maintenance can use remote diagnosis and remote control to assess the overall status of the system from any location and dispatch technicians if necessary. Pluggable system devices and self-unplugging connectors further minimise service and maintenance costs. They are designed to yield to excessive force from any direction in order to prevent cables from breaking, to protect sockets, and to thereby reduce repair costs. For our own product Visocall IP, we even use regular network hardware so that pre- existing cable channels can still be used. This simplification of infrastructure allows for easy renovations and modernisation and keeps costs under control. When both hardware and software of a communication system are provided by one manufacturer, the system can be expanded or customised freely. This way, you can be sure that your investment stays economic and viable throughout the whole life cycle.

With speech communication, information is gathered quickly, unnecessary walking is avoided, and nurses have more time for patient care.
