IHEEM is delighted to be hosting IFHE Europe at Healthcare Estates in 2019. Taking place from 8-9 October at Manchester Central in Manchester, the conference theme, ‘Where Innovation, Technology and Leadership Meet’, reflects the event’s coverage of engineering, design, build, and management from around the world, and this year’s conference will embrace international peer-to-peer learning in all these areas. The event’s Call for Presentations received over 35 submissions for conference presentations from both Europe and the rest of the world – including from Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, the Falkland Islands, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Spain, and the United States. The IHEEM Conference Committee have


deliberated, cogitated, and intellectually digested all the presentation submissions that were put forward; the conference is going to be a feast of international and UK-based expertise, guidance, case studies, and technical excellence.


The conference consists of four streams: Planning Design and Construction, Strategy and Leadership, Innovation, and Engineering and Facilities Management. The sessions will include papers from both the UK and overseas, complemented by an additional session solely focusing on international case studies and best practice from countries as diverse as the Falkland Islands, Germany, Ireland, Poland, Canada, the USA,, and Italy. Topics under discussion in the conference are many and varied, and will include procurement, modular building, improving emergency care, and land disposal. New technology features in most streams, contributing to the Estate of the Future, acoustics, hospital design, ventilation and air quality, and energy saving. Updates on HTMs will be presented, and topical subjects such as energy saving, outsourcing, decontamination, and sustainability, covered. In addition to conference content, the


exhibition will also feature free-to-attend presentations in theatres on the exhibition floor. These are:
