With this month marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of the IHEEM, the Institute is inviting you to celebrate the key milestone in style at two key events.
All aboard in Portsmouth The first is a special anniversary drinks reception on Friday 17 August in the head office city of Portsmouth on board HMS Warrior on the waterfront at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. IHEEM’s events and marketing manager, Craig Willcock, explained: “The evening event will celebrate the heritage and innovation of the Institute as IHEEM sets the scene for its next 75 years. There will also be an opportunity to explore the engineering marvel of HMS Warrior, Britain’s first iron- hulled armoured battleship – launched in 1860, and the pride of Queen Victoria’s fleet – and to experience life on board.” The Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, local dignitaries, members of the Institute, key stakeholders, specially invited guests, and the IHEEM head office team, will be attending. IHEEM 2018 Regional Conference, Exhibition, and 75th Anniversary Dinner Craig Willcock said: “Last month we celebrated the 70th anniversary of the NHS, founded in 1948 by Welshman, Aneurin Bevan, who grew up in South Wales – the setting of our second anniversary event this month. Now in its third year, the IHEEM Regional
Conference and Exhibition has grown, and this year will extend over two days – 30-31 August – and features over 20 speakers from across the healthcare estates sector. ‘IHEEM 2018’ will be held at Cardiff’s impressive City Hall, and will challenge delegates to consider ‘How to keep the patient safe in your hospital?’ through key conference themes.”
Setting the scene
Dr Robert C Spencer, a consultant in Clinical and Environmental Microbiology at Index Microbiology, will set the scene ‘by paying homage to the discovery and development of drugs active against viruses, bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and helminths, which have alleviated more suffering of humans and animals than any other class of pharmaceuticals’.
Theatre ventilation and cleanroom design and operation
Hilary Humphreys, Professor of Clinical Microbiology, and consultant microbiologist at The Royal College of
The special anniversary drinks reception on 17 August in Portsmouth will be held on board HMS Warrior at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
