IHEEM CEO retires after six years in the role
After six years as IHEEM’s CEO, Julian Amey has retired from his position with the Institute.
The IHEEM chief executive was set to retire at the end of this year, but has decided to bring this forward with the full agreement of Council to take place immediately. Noted key highlights under his tenure include the strong partnerships that IHEEM now has with NHS Improvement and HefmA, alongside positive engagement with the Institute’s 220- strong Affiliate Group, comprising large companies, SMEs, NHS Trusts, and universities. IHEEM’s key role in formulating and revising technical guidance will also be boosted by this network of alliances. The key role that
IHEEM has developed in providing CPD for all sectors of the industry is also vital in building a future supply chain of talented, well qualified people to the workforce as our experienced
Members retire. It is also encouraging to see the profile of IHEEM increasing internationally. As a founder member of IFHE, IHEEM’s hosting of the 2019 IFHE Europe Conference in Manchester is an important milestone.
The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the China Hospital Association at its conference in Hangzhou last August, meanwhile, is testimony to the outstanding work of the Hong Kong Branch Committee, and provides a platform for
cooperation in a country where many new
hospitals have been built over the past 10 years. As IHEEM and the NHS celebrate their 75th and 70th Anniversaries respectively this year, Julian leaves the Institute in a strong position to meet the challenges of the next 75 years. IHEEM’s Council is now tasked with finding his successor. The Institute would like to wish Julian a long and happy retirement.
