Hot water heating solutions


Rinnai will showcase its ‘energy-efficient, continuous flow’ gas-fired hot water heating products and systems. With systems designed to satisfy the healthcare sector’s wide-ranging needs, the company says it can deliver hot water heating solutions ‘to meet any demand’. On show will be Rinnai’s proven systems for light and heavy-duty sites – including the LOW-NOX HD55 range, suitable for ‘lighter use’ healthcare facilities where a continuous flow of constant hot water on demand is a must.


The company added: “Meanwhile the Rinnai Infinity Plus range is perfect for larger premises where there is a need for instant response to demand without paying the penalty of storing hot water.” ‘Technically advanced and precision engineered’, Rinnai’s condensing hot

water heating systems reportedly offer ‘one of the most energy-efficient, A-rated continuous heating solutions available’. The units are ‘renewable-ready’ (suitable for use as a temperature booster for solar thermal and heat-pumps). Rinnai’s services also include a complete design and selection survey to help customers choose ‘the most energy- efficient, cost-effective, and compliant’ heating and hot water system.


Quieter environments aid recovery


The noise found in modern hospitals – form a variety of sources, including patients, staff, visitors, medical alerts, and other life-saving technology – means these healthcare environments are often unable to meet acoustic levels recommended by the World Health Organization.


So says Rockfon, although it adds that ‘using the correct materials can provide patients with great indoor acoustics and privacy, supporting them in their


recovery’. Rockfon ‘provides a complete acoustic ceiling range’, combining stone wool ceiling tiles with suspension systems and accessories. It said: “Our ceiling systems offer a fast, simple way to create beautiful, comfortable spaces. They offer the highest class of fire safety (Class A1), excellent sound absorption (Class A), are resistant to all ubiquitous bacteria, including MRSA, and ensure dimensional stability at humidity levels of up to 100% RH.


“We are very proud to have been awarded ‘Recommended Supplier’ to the NHS and social care construction schemes in England by the Department of Health via its ProCure22 framework. The appointment is proof of the trust and belief the DH and NHS have in the Rockfon team and its product ranges.”


Perfect for hospital ‘refurbs’


Construction Specialties will showcase CS Elimax Reform, ‘an innovative interior wall system that facilitates fast, clean delivery of custom interiors’. It said: “This modular offsite- manufactured system suits both new- build projects and refurbishments.” The system comprises a robust aluminium chassis lined with pre-finished clip-on panels, and is configurable to include services or necessary equipment. Designed and manufactured to project- specific dimensions, CS Elimax Reform is delivered to site pre-cut, pre-finished, and

flat packed. Installation is ‘fast and dust-free’, and with no need for noisy power tools, can be undertaken ‘with minimal disturbance to existing operations’. Individual panels can be easily removed, allowing


access to services in the wall cavity, or enabling quick ‘refreshes’ of whole interiors. The modular system components can be reused during space layout reconfigurations, ‘making the system a sustainable, cost-effective solution for


the lifecycle of the building’. There are two system specifications: n Standard (pictured) – for general hospital areas, available with a selection of panels and surface finishes. n Cleanroom – for clinical


areas, featuring coved wall-to-ceiling and floor-to-wall interfaces and smooth panel finishes. Available with gasketed, mastic, or hot-welded joint detailing between panels, ‘for a seamless, hygienic, easy-to- clean interior’.


The Pharmafilter waste management system (see also page 17) is described as ‘a thoroughly integrated waste management system that at every interface delivers significant improvement in the handling, removal, and treatment, of waste and wastewater streams arising in hospitals’. The company explained:


“Logistically and historically, hospital waste has always been removed and separated into various categories. However, Pharmafilter is an economically and environmentally friendly way of dealing with the complexity of mixed waste, sewage, and wastewater streams emanating from hospitals. The system dramatically simplifies the way such waste is handled and decontaminated, and therefore reduces overall costs. “The wastewater streams from the hospital sewers are treated in the onsite Pharmafilter plant. The wastewater from the high-tech treatment plant is then crystal clear and disinfected, and free of the previously high concentrations of pharmaceuticals, such as antibiotics, painkillers, and heart medicine. It is thus ready for reuse for the flushing of the Tonto shredder, and toilets, and other beneficial applications such as boiler feed or garden water.”
