This year sees the third IHEEM Authorising Engineer (AE) Conference take place; it will be held at Cranmore Park (pictured), on the outskirts of Birmingham, on 20 March. Themed ‘Why do we need an Authorising Engineer?’, it will see a series of sessions presented by key speakers from across the sector, using case studies and sharing their experiences to help facilitate discussions. Registration is now open, with the full programme to be announced shortly. IHEEM Registered AEs can attend for free, while the cost for IHEEM members is just £99 plus VAT, and for non-members, £149 plus VAT. Delegates from both the public and private sectors are invited to attend. To book, telephone IHEEM on 023 9282 3186, email:

IHEEM has for many years recognised the contribution of its members and colleagues in the sector with the presentation of awards to outstanding individuals, particularly those who have developed the work of the Institute, and is now seeking to form a Committee to take this initiative to the next stage.

The Awards Committee’s work will focus on: n Considering the current awards structure, and ‘recommending appropriate changes as IHEEM moves into the next 75 years’.

n Developing a new structure that recognises the current environment in which IHEEM and its members live and work.

This Committee will require a wide variety of members who have: n An interest in recognising the achievements of others.

n An understanding of how the recognition of performance may be a motivating factor for others.

n A desire to contribute to the Institute’s wider work.

The commitment will include periodic face-to-face meetings, but the bulk of the work is likely to be carried out by electronic communication. If you are interested in getting involved, email: office@iheem.org.uk

IHEEM is reminding members that it is time to renew their memberships. Membership development manager, Chris Parker, said: “It’s that time of year again; your 2019 membership invoices will have been emailed or posted to you. Renewing is easy – you can log on via the members’ area at www.iheem.org.uk/login, or give our friendly head office team a call on 02392 823186 and we will be delighted to assist you with taking your payment and updating your GDPR preferences. “Did you know you can save 5% by paying by Annual Direct Debit?; alternatively you can spread the cost by 10 monthly instalments (January-October).
