Innovation, technology, and international speakers
‘Innovation and Technology’ are the buzzwords around this year’s Healthcare Estates event – being held this year with the International Federation of Hospital Engineering (IFHE) Europe, say IHEEM and the event’s organisers, Step Exhibitions.
IHEEM is proud to be incorporating content from IFHE Europe at the event, giving it a more international feel. Healthcare Estates 2019, which takes place from October 8-9 at Manchester Central, will accordingly, the Institute says, be ‘an international hub of peer- to-peer idea exchanges’, with visitors, delegates, and speakers, expected from the 14 countries that are members of IFHE Europe, and countries from around the world, as part of the international delegation. Event director, Steve Webb, said: “A ‘compare and contrast’ approach across both the conference and the exhibition theatre programmes will highlight the very best in hospital design, management, and maintenance, across Europe and beyond, with discussion on best practice, innovation, and more efficient ways of providing patient care providing delegates with tangible solutions to issues in their hospitals.”
Looking to secure the broadest audience
Step Exhibitions says it is keen to ensure that the broadest and biggest possible audience from NHS Trusts – and specifically those people working in estates, facilities, security, fire safety, training, energy, and construction – attend the flagship IHEEM event in 2019. Steve Webb said: “Healthcare Estates offers so much content, with a conference at which senior figures from the sector give their perspectives, six dedicated areas in the exhibition – each with a theatre offering free content, advice clinics, and over 240 exhibiting companies. The event offers a fabulous opportunity to those working in healthcare estates/engineering departments to hear from representatives from key bodies such as IHEEM, NHSI, ProCure22, NAHFO, SoPHE (part of CIBSE), and others. In 2019 we are running a ‘bring a colleague’ campaign, to encourage those who already attend and enjoy the event to bring somebody they work with along with them. If they are a ‘VIP’ (working in the NHS, or an IHEEM member), their guest will also be made a VIP for the day they visit, entitling them to free car parking, complimentary tea
The exhibition theatres provide a variety of engaging content, complementing that of the main conference presentations.
and coffee, a dedicated area to hold meetings in and catch up with colleagues, plus special rates for becoming a conference delegate. The conference delegate rates are reduced significantly up to 30 June, so early booking is recommended.”
Four ‘parallel’ conference streams Conference director, Victoria Emerton, said: “The 2019 conference programme will encompass four parallel streams: Strategy & Leadership, Planning, Design and Construction, Engineering and Facilities Management, and Innovation.” Presentation submissions for the conference are invited from all healthcare sector professionals, and may focus on any of the wide range of topics set to be covered at the conference, including Asset Management, BIM, Clinical Excellence, Efficiency, Energy, Funding, Innovation, Lighting, New Technology, Procurement, Planning, Regeneration, Safety, and Sustainability. To put forward a submission, visit the event website, at
www.healthcare-estates.com The closing date for submissions is 15 February.
Access to keynotes
The exhibition will have a new look this year, with the main conference plenary sessions taking place in a large purpose- built theatre on the exhibition floor, giving free access to the keynote addresses to conference delegates and ‘VIP’ visitors. Step Exhibitions is also incorporating new areas ‘to appeal to more sectors within healthcare’. HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning) is one such new area, and will have its own dedicated theatre. Steve Webb said: “Alongside
