Conference programme building well for 2020
The planning of the Healthcare Estates conference programme for 2020 is well under way, say IHEEM and co-organisers, Step Exhibitions.
Conference Director, Victoria Emerton, said: “The IHEEM Conference Committee has met to deliberate and cogitate upon the 100+ presentation submissions for the Healthcare Estates conference programme for 2020. The standard of the submissions was high, with many coming from NHS Trusts. The Committee reviews the submissions on the basis of the event’s core requirements of sharing knowledge, best practice, and lessons learned; peer-to-peer learning is a cornerstone of the appeal and benefit of attending Healthcare Estates.” The Conference Committee comprises IHEEM Chief Executive Officer, Pete Sellars, the Institute’s President, Ian Hinitt, and its Marketing and Events Manager, Melissa Glass; new committee Chair, Claire Hennessy, Estates and Facilities Director at Birmingham Community NHS Foundation Trust; Duane Passman, Director of 3Ts at Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust; Duncan Sissons, Project Director, John Sisk & Son; Simon Adamson, Head of Estates, South Tees Hospital NHS Trust; Philip Wade, Business Consultant, Static Systems; Adrian Eggleton, Director & EFM Operational Head, NHS Estates & Facilities Commercial Directorate; Michael Soroka, Estates Operations Manager, Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust, and from Step Exhibitions, Event Director, Steve Webb, Sales Manager, Jay Stacy, and Conference Director, Victoria Emerton.
Wide-ranging subject matter “The range of subject areas covered by the presentations chosen for inclusion in this year’s conference is wide, and case studies from NHS Trusts are a prominent feature,” Victoria Emerton explained. “A number of case studies feature a range of subjects – including the use of BIM in the construction of the Tessa Jowell Health Centre in Dulwich, examples of facility modification/enhancement/ expansion while maintaining operational functionality at the Ellen Badger Hospital and Shipston Medical Centre in Warwickshire; a case study on the implementation of user-led design in the creation of a facility for children with neuro-divergent disabilities at the Caudwell International Children’s Centre

in Staffordshire; the use of digital data and stakeholder engagement to remodel the Lennard Road NHS building in Croydon, and the innovative methods used by Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust to build new facilities for Stoke Mandeville Hospital, and a nurse training facility for the University of Bedfordshire. Another presentation will focus on the development of an integrated approach to relocate the clinical services at The Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, including the new hospital’s design, the incorporation of innovation and efficiencies, and the introduction of new procedures and protocols.”
