Bender UK says its ‘forward-thinking healthcare team’ members have ‘progressed to become leading clinical specialists’, alongside possessing ‘a core expertise in medical IT power’. An ‘acknowledged electrical safety expert’ for 75 years, Bender is recognised for medical IT power (IPS) systems. It designs and installs complete turnkey theatre solutions, ‘partnering with leading equipment specialists’ to supply UPS systems, operating tables, surgical lights, clinical pendants, and integrated theatre systems.

Bender UK says it has recently seen ‘a noticeable rise’ in demand for maintenance of clinical products. As the exclusive distributor of Merivaara products, including Q-Flow lights, operating tables, and pendants, it has

DTGen on standby for the health sector standby power systems for Ninewells

Power generation specialist, DTGen, has been appointed by Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust to supply and install the standby power solution for a new emergency care building at Southend Hospital, as part of a £9.7 m upgrade that will see a new three-storey extension added to the facility. During the past decade, the company has delivered over 190 NHS and other healthcare installations, with a total value of £22.5 m. Throughout lockdown, the business continued to support its health sector customers, including NHS Nightingale hospitals, and provided new

Hospital in Dundee, the Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital, and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary (see photo). It also upgraded obsolete equipment at Peterborough City Hospital.

DTGen has also ‘secured numerous new contracts for maintaining NHS equipment’, including at the University Hospital of North Tees in Stockton and Tees; Foss Park Hospital in York, Pinderfields General Hospital in Wakefield, Pontefract General Infirmary, and the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington. It has also been awarded a three-year

extension to the service contract for generator maintenance across the NHS Ayrshire & Arran estate.

The company has also launched a new programme of ‘virtual’ CPDs specifically for the health sector, including a session on the application of standby generators in NHS facilities.

The team sets up and delivers all PPM schedules, with maintenance packages tailored to each site, with ‘24/7, 365 day- a-year’ call-out, technical support, diagnostics, repairs, and health checks, to remain compliant with HTM standards, and prevent failures. Bender has a network of engineers strategically located no more than two hours’ drive from healthcare customer locations. Either trained by Bender and Merivaara, or sub- contractors qualified to support approved maintenance regimes, they are deployed via a cloud-based planning schedule, with electronic reporting ‘for instant feedback on system health’. Replacement parts are carried by engineers, or held in stock, for rapid repair.
