K2022 MATERIALS | EXHIBITION PREVIEW

Modern Dispersions, a global supplier of thermo- plastic compounds and concentrates, will showcase its extensive product portfolio. One specialist area is conductive masterbatches containing high loads of carbon black, which can be diluted into various polymers that impart electrical conductivity. These masterbatches allow the compounder or processor to easily incorporate the desired level of master- batch resulting in the targeted resistivity level. The group has extensive colour and formulation

expertise enabling it to deliver consistent products used to manufacture agricultural film, electrostatic dissipative housings in electronic packaging, cell phones, fabrics, and household items. www.moderndispersions.com

Momentive Performance Materials will focus on the requirements of modern mobility concepts and the use of LSR materials. These include flame- retardant LSR grades for the cost-efficient produc- tion of hard-soft composites, and grades that crosslink at low temperature facilitating the production of thick-walled parts. The new LSR grades NL6830FR and NL6850FR meet the UL94-V0 requirements at 1 mm thickness. With Shore A hardnesses of 35 and 45 respectively, they combine balanced and exceptional mechani- cal properties with low compression set. Possible applications include seals in the intake area of combustion engines, collective seals, and O-rings. Silopren LSR 2725/40 is a self-lubricating grade

that enables the cost-efficient production of rigid-soft composites in which engineering plastics, including PBT, are overmoulded. Because Silopren LSR 2725/40 forms good initial adhesion to the substrate very quickly, short cycle times are possible and full adhesion is achieved during subsequent storage. www.momentive.com

SABIC will highlight its commitment to circular, sustainable solutions designed to eliminate plastic waste and support the shift to product electrifica- tion under its theme of “Making the change real” at this year’s K Show. SABIC is launching its Bluehero program, which it says is an expanding ecosystem of materials, solutions, expertise and programs. This supports acceleration of the transition to electric power and contribute to global goals on climate change, with an initial focus on e-mobility. “With our strategic Bluehero initiative, we have

vigorously committed to invest in, develop and deliver material solutions that can support the transition to electric power, drive down emissions and help address climate change,” says Abdulrah-

man Al-Fageeh, SABIC’s Executive VP for Polymers. “Our decision to initially focus on automotive reflects the urgency of making progress in that space and the strengths we already have with established materials and capabilities that can allow us to support the shift to electric vehicles and contribute to a low carbon future.” The electrification initiative also leverages

SABIC’s specific knowledge and expertise around large part moulding, compression moulding, advanced injection moulding and polymer flame interaction to help support customers. The com- pany expects to strengthen and expand its thermo- plastic offering to help enable electrification with the elevated focus and new investments that will become available under Bluehero. www.sabic.com

Solvay will show its new Amodel Bios PPA materi- als for e-mobility electrical and electronic applica- tions during K2022. These are partially bio-based resins produced with 100% renewable electricity, minimising global warming potential well below the level of other bio-based PPAs, according to Solvay. Designed for injection moulding, it says these materials are an ideal candidate for non- blistering reflow soldered surface mount devices and parts in the cooling circuit of power electron- ics, including fluid connectors. Solvay will also show its new Amodel Supreme

PPA materials for e-mobility. PPA AE 9933 and AE 9950 grades have been designed for e-motor and inverter bus bars operating at 800 V and higher. The company says they combine “best-in-class” comparative tracking index (CTI) ratings with high thermal cycle shock resistance from -40°C to 150°C. They will also retain their CTI over time even after temporary exposure to peak temperatures above 150°C. www.solvay.com
