BASF looks at second Chinese verbund site


BASF has confirmed that it is considering building a second highly integrated verbund site in China, its seventh overall. This came after executive board chairman Martin Brudermül- ler and Lin Shaochun, executive vice-governor of Guangdong province, signed a non-binding memorandum of under- standing in Berlin, witnessed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. If it goes ahead, the site would be located in Guangdong, China’s most populous province. It would be BASF’s largest ever investment, reaching $10bn by 2030, as well as being the company’s third largest

Mauser opens IBC facility in US


Industrial packaging firm Mauser USA is to expand intermediate bulk container (IBC) manufacturing capabilities with its new site at North Wales, Pennsylvania. This will provide on-site supply to the company’s reconditioning affiliate, National Container Group (NCG), plus IBC bottle replacements via NCG for other regional users.


“IBCs and reconditioned packaging continue to be the drivers of growth within the industrial packaging industry,” com- mented Jeff DeLiberty, director of new markets and business development. maker RL Hudson & Company, a mould maker and short-run injection moulder headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma, US, has completed the acquisition of Rapid Production Tooling of Berthoud, Colo- rado. This, the company said, will enable it to add “technology and capabil- ity to provide turnkey services” and to “move faster and with much better precision in our plastic injection moulding business”. Terms were not disclosed. Founded in 1997,


Rapid makes precision moulds for medical parts and electronics markets, plus other industrial and commercial moulding ap- plications. It currently has 38 employees and its site has robot-controlled CNC equipment, EDM, laser, grinding, polishing and measuring equip- ment. KraussMaffei has reported that its all-electric PX series, which was launched at K 2016, has been a huge success. Due to “tremendous demand”, the company has doubled capacity at it sites in Sucany, Slovakia, and will also begin production at Munich, Germany. In addition, it has


acquired Plamag in Plauen, Germany, which has been produc- ing components and spare parts for the series since 2017. The PX series is currently available in five different sizes and two more, PX 25 and PX 320, are planned to be launched at Fakuma. � www.kraussmaffei.com
