It showed six new digital assistance packages during the Technology Days event: 4.setup, 4.start-stop, 4.optimisation, 4.production, 4.monitoring and 4.service. These are add-ons to the machine controller designed to make the moulding machine more autonomous. “The machine will


operate the operator,” Gaub predicts. “I cannot give you a timescale; the important thing is the trend. Machines that can develop strategies. Thinking machines. A machine that has awareness is hard to think about but this is the trend and it is quite a strong trend.”
