MACHINERY | CORRUGATED PIPE

Right: Leier in Germany has installed a rainwater management system using Pipelife products

fers the cooling capacity of the Unicool cooling system to the production process, it says.

Extended range Maintools of Germany has extended its range of corrugators with a new model. Its XL Inovo 25/40-180, introduced at K2022 last

plant in Kirchbach, Styria – which included adding a rainwater management system. To prepare for heavy rainfall – and collect and

later release the water in a controlled way – con- tractor Unger Stahlbau planned and designed a 150m³ stormwater retention pipe system, using Pipelife products. The Pipelife storage sewer consists of large-diameter pipes, plus extra fittings. If necessary due to local conditions and require- ments, special accessories such as inlets and outlets can be supplied as well. The core element of the system is the company’s

SL large diameter pipes. The pipes are installed by connecting preformed push-fit sockets. For the project, 120m of 800mm SN8 pipes were used to build the storage sewer. The supply line is made with 120m of 500mm-diameter pipe. In heavy rain, rain and surface water is chan- nelled into the storage sewer using PVC SN4 sewage pipes. Then, the water is collected, tempo- rarily stored and fed into two soakaway basins.

High output Unicor showed a range of its machinery at K2022, including its enormous 40-tonne UC 1800 model – which makes pipes in diameters of 500 to 1800mm at high output rates. Like other machines in the range, it relies on

Unicor’s shuttle principle. An integrated parking station also enables the UC 1800 to make different pipe lengths without machine modification. The company also showcased its UC 90-G3, which can produce 20-90mm double wall pipe at a stable output speed of up to 25 m/min. As well as having high efficiency, the redesigned UC 90-G3 features two synchronised servo motors, a rede- signed vacuum system, a new curve and a new mould block design. The machine concept trans-

year, is used to make corrugated automotive hosing. It can make pipe with a maximum outside diameter of 25mm and a minimum internal diam- eter of 4.5mm. It is expandable from 40 up to 180 pairs of mould blocks, and has two cooling circuits. The length of a mould block is 37.7mm – which the company says is a “perfect diameter-length ratio”. The model is equipped with standard features including lateral and height adjustment – and can make multi-layer products (up to six layers). It also includes an energy-saving drive and vacuum pump technology.

on request – with speed control simple to program. It also features remote maintenance and OPC UA as standard. In addition, the company showcased its Protos

165/60V and Protos 270/48V systems. Protos 165/60V is built with 60 pairs of vacuum mould blocks, to make pipes in a diameter range of 40-165mm. Protos 270/48V is assembled with 48 pairs of vacuum mould blocks and makes pipes in a diameter range of 63-305mm. Both include a quick-change system.

System showcase Drossbach showcased a number of its corrugators at K2022 – including a system that makes pipes up to 1200mm outside diameter. The HD1200 has a high output speed thanks to

directly water-cooled mould blocks and an inte- grated full vacuum system. Aluminium master mould blocks carry the mould block inserts. These run in the machine on steel paving tiles and follow the shuttle system. An automatic, centralised lubrication system contributes towards maintenance-free operation, says the company. After adjustment, the die head is fixed to the

corrugator with a centring ring, so no later align- ment is necessary. The parking station and shuttle principle allow variable pipe length even with inline produced sockets. Mould block inserts, fixed with quick fasteners, ensure rapid tool exchange. The smaller HD500-T3 produces pipes with a maximum outside diameter of 560mm and internal diameter of 100mm. It has 39 mould blocks per side. Both models are typically used to make waste-
