ITIB MACHINERY ADDS PERFORMANCE CORRUGATOR
ITIB Machinery has completed development of a new high-performance corrugator — the fastest in its range — that is particularly suited for no compromise, high speed production of small diameter pipes.
The key features of the new machine are identified in its name: FV identifies the vacuum forming system; 32 the maximum pipe outer diameter that can be produced (in mm), 112 the number of mould pairs that make up the chain; and HP indicates high performance.
Compared to the previous version, the FV32/112HP provides a higher maximum production speed of 80 metres/ minute, which is enough to meet the most demanding performance requirements for production of PVC, PP and PE conduits.
The corrugator is characterised by a new
design in which each half mould chain is moved by separate gears driven by a single brushless motor through a gearbox and torque limiter to avoid mould damage in case of emergency stops. The optimised forming channel length and the use of cooling on all four sides of the moulds make production faster and more efficient, ensuring a high- quality pipe and guaranteeing a constant and perfect shape during the forming process.
Openable inlet covers provide easy access to the closing channel in case of a material jam, thus reducing downtime of the extrusion line, while the optimised path of the moulds in the closing section results in much reduced length of the extrusion die. This enables a decrease in the head pressure and makes it possible to fully exploit the machine’s high cooling capacity.

Additional central free running gears, along with the independently controlled cooling and right/left channel temperature setting, prevent chain thermal expansion issues.
Attention to small but important details, along with well-known Italian design, make the FV32/112HP corrugator a stand-out in the extrusion line. The new HMI display allows operators to directly interact with the new machine: just one touch can start and stop the machine, control ancillary devices or equipment, change the main operating parameters, and interact with the PLC. The system stores all data and alarms and of course can be synchronised with the extruder in order to control all components of the production chain directly from the same display panel.
The corrugator is also Industry 4.0 ready: it can be interconnected with other systems involved in the manufacturing process to allow data collection and decision-making easier and more efficient. More technical data is available HERE.
Aside from performance, safety and energy saving are key points of all ITIB Machinery corrugators: consumptions, temperatures and transmission torque are constantly checked by the onboard monitor systems.
