The company has made mainte-
nance easier: as well as simpler screen changing, blades can be changed more quickly – through the introduc- tion of its Up Lift rotor. The model’s compact nature means that it can be moved around the factory floor by a forklift. The model has a power of
110kW, a working width of 1,000mm and a throughput of 3,000 kg/h (with a 10mm screen). During development, the com- pany said it focused on reducing energy costs.
Other advantages include: an inclined position of the cutting chamber, which helps when processing bulky parts; low infeed height; comfortable, efficient cleaning of the cutting chamber; easy screen change because of the swing-type design; resist- ance to fracture and reliability of operation, even under constant working conditions; and the use of a rotor with high rotative moment and oversized rotor bearings.

“This allows even finer screens to be used – for
even better results – in quality-intensive plastics applications,” said Robert Obermayr, head of Erema’s Powerfil subsidiary. The Quattro version of the LF 406 laser filter can filter up to 9,000 kg/hr of melt.
Customers looking for a
rapidly available recycling system – for simple applications – can benefit from Readymac – a standardised, prefabricated recycling solution that can be produced from stock, based on Erema’s proven TVE technology. In addition, Chemarema is a new series developed for mechanical material process- ing as part of the chemical recycling process.
Mechanical processes are often used at the start of the chemical recycling process – to prepare input streams and ensure an energy-efficient flow of feed material. Chemarema features extrusion technol- ogy that can be adapted to the application requirements and is designed precisely for downstream chemical processes.

Large-scale plants Erema and its subsidiaries presented several new recycling systems and components at K2022 – ena- bling large-scale plants with a production capacity of up to 6 tonnes/hour. These included: the new Erema 406 laser filter, with 50% larger screening area; innovations in the plasticising unit, for high throughput and low specific energy consumption; and the PredictOn app, which can anticipate and eliminate imminent malfunctions based on continuous measurement and evaluation of machine data. The increased screen area of the 406 laser filter helps to ensure lower pressure and temperature at the same throughput rate.
Hellweg Maschinenbau presented details of the Smart Control system for its entire granulator range at K2022.
In addition, it showed a digital central lubrica- tion unit with Bluetooth data transmission – which can be retrofitted to all central granulators. The company has added a hardware module to
its Smart Control system that can store and analyse its power consumption over the long term. This provides valuable data for optimising energy use. The software itself can now control granulator speed in increments of one, allowing the user to tailor machine parameters exactly to requirements. All central granulators from the 260 series
upwards can now be equipped with a new central lubrication unit. Using a Bluetooth interface, it provides all relevant data – such as battery voltage, temperature and delivered lubricant volume. This allows the operator to detect irregularities at an early stage. Empty cartridges can also be refilled.
Rotor design At K2022,CMG introduced a new granulator rotor design, which was seen on an EV 916 – the com- pany’s largest granulator – but will be available on models of all sizes. “The new design allows the rotor blades to cut the plastic feedstock perpendicularly against the bed blade, obtaining the highest degree of cutting
