EXTRUDER OF THE MONTH

Vintech Industries Head office:

President/CEO: Founded:

Employees: Ownership: Profile:

More than 100 Private

Vintech was co-founded in 2002 by Jim Schoonover, as a specialist supplier to the automotive industry. It has since grown into a leading Tier II supplier of extruded products such as weatherseals – to Tier I companies across the world. As well as its core focus on multi-durometer extrusion products, it also carries out injection moulding and metal roll-forming.

Product lines:

Vintech’s co-extruded products are used on various parts of the car – by many different OEMs. They include mouldings for glass run channels, lower door frames, upper door openings and both front and rear windscreens. Its products have been specified on cars as diverse as the Dodge Avenger, Fiat 500 and Ford Fusion. The company even boasts that nine of its parts were used on Barack Obama’s presidential limousine.

Factory locations:

In addition to its Imlay City production plant, the company recently opened a new design facility in nearby Almont. However, Vintech intends to develop the Almont location into a full production facility in time: it will increasingly take on more production – as the main plant is now at full capacity – in order to expand beyond the current output of 4 million parts per month. Overall, the company plans to expand to three times its current size over the next five years. Vintech also has production facilities in China, Turkey and Mexico – helping it to supply its base of more than 125 global clients.
