Borealis sets sight on capacitor films
Borealis has launched Stelora, which it describres as a new class of sustainable olefinic engineering polymer which offers strength, durability, and a step change in heat-resistance.
Developed together with Topas Advanced Polymers,
Stelora combines a cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) with PP to create ethylene-propylene-norbornene (EPN) that is suitable for a range of technically advanced applications. The first commercially available application of Stelora is in a high-heat-resistant capacitor film produced by Slovakia’s Tervakoski Films Group, where it offers the performance of PP with improved heat resistance and electrical properties at elevated temperatures.
