Having all stakeholders involved early, he said, allows them to be proactive in identifying potential hazards. “When it came time to roll out certain data, like the
data flow from the information systems to our system, it went very smooth. The planning works, the com- munication works, and just everybody understands the expectation of where we need to be and they’re working toward it,” he added. Sloan Bindfold, strategic account executive at Bus- Planner, acknowledged the quick timeline, but said leaders like Baldwin make the transition possible. “If you have the right people and you’re doing things methodically as they should be done, which is the case here, then yes, it can be successful. But if you don’t have the partnership, it won’t,” he shared. “He knows
what his goals are for the organization.” BusPlanner CEO Umar Mir added that Baldwin’s
approach to updating the routing software is very an- alytical. “He understands the industry, understands the pain points really well,” Mir said, noting Baldwin is also very tech-forward and knows how to pick solutions. “He’s approached this whole [transition] with so much thoughtfulness around, ‘Hey, what are the core issues that we’re facing, and how do we make sure that we have the right system and tooling in place to address those issues?’ And it’s really refreshing to see a leader with that type of thoughtfulness. “I’ll put an exclamation mark around the passion
that he has for the community, the passion that he has for what he’s doing, and just making sure that he does right by that community.” In addition to a new routing software, PGCPS plans
to roll out driver tablets next semester and eventually RFID student ID cards. “I wanted the tablets to be supplemental versus
