FIRST LIGHT SAFETY FEATURED SCHOOL SERIES FIRST LIGHT SAFETY RECOGNIZES INDUSTRY LEADING SCHOOLS

In a commendable move for the benefit of student safety, Forsyth County Schools has come together with First Light Safety Products (FLSP) to update their bus fleets with leading safety technology. Forsyth County Schools have been proactive in their recognition and implementation of our cutting-edge safety technology aimed at saving lives. Mike Satterfield steers this collaborative initiative and aims to roll out the Fully Illuminated School Bus Sign and Fully Illuminated Stop Arm throughout their fleets. FLSP applauds this progressive school district for their firm commitment to enhancing safety on their buses from 2024 onwards. The technology not only elevates visibility and motorist reaction times but also reduces stop arm violations, ensuring holistic safety for students in and around the bus.

First Light Safety thanks Mike Satterfield and the Forsyth County Schools team for their dedication to student safety and for creating a safer environment for students traveling to and from school on the bus.

“Without exception, 100% of our bus drivers report that the First Light Safety illuminated stop signs and school bus signs on our buses keep our students safer by making our buses more visible on the road and at the bus stop. Our drivers report that it is easier for other drivers to see the bus on the road—especially in the dark or inclement weather conditions (rain, fog, etc.). Our drivers also report greater safety at the bus stop. All vehicle traffic sees and reacts to the bus at a greater distance, and our drivers have reported zero instances of vehicles passing their stopped bus with the First Light Safety signs on at the bus stop.” Mike Satterfield, Director of Transportation

“I wanted to express how happy I am with the new First Light Safety LED signs on my bus! This was the first morning driving with them, and it was the main topic at my bus stops! Parents are talking amongst themselves and asking me questions about it. I believe this is a great addition to our buses to help us even more with the safety of our children; even my elementary students noticed and were so excited about it. Thank you for all you do, helping us continue to make more improvements for the safety of our precious cargo!” Angie Carder, Bus Driver

“First, let me say that I am really grateful and feel very blessed to have these. I think that they are a major improvement and very worth the upgrade. There is no doubt that they are much more noticeable and highlight the purpose that they are there for— student and bus safety! I have had several students comment and notice, as well as many parents who have raved over them! Most importantly, at my most dangerous stop in the mornings when it is dark, I can state that I have not seen one person run my stop sign while I was stopped since the First Light Safety signs were installed.” Billy Barrett, Bus Driver

“I love them! I’ve noticed in the darker mornings and later afternoons there is less tailgating, cars stop further back, and there is a greater sense of safety around bus. I believe all buses should have these in the future if possible.” John Frye, Bus Driver

“I feel the new bus signs are well-lit, and motorists’ are more aware when I make a stop—especially when it is dark in the mornings. On rainy or foggy days, my signs shine bright and cut through the weather. Huge difference. Personally, I feel all buses should have them.” Tony Johnson, Bus Driver

“The First Light Safety illuminated school bus signs make the bus impossible to miss on the road. The lighted signs cut through the dark and fog with ease.” Rebecca Pruitt, Bus Driver & Field Supervisor
