It is designed to improve behind-the-wheel driving skills, vehicle inspections, child passenger safety, behavioral control of students, and loading and unloading procedures. The event includes a written test, with the win- ners announced during an evening banquet.

8:00 A.M. – 9:00 A.M.| Frisco 2 ¢Coffee’s On Us, Tips Are Appciated Closing General Session Facilitators: Ryan Gray & Kent Myers Back by popular demand, a focus group convened over complimentary coffee served in TSD collector’s mugs shares lessons that were learned from the past week and how attendees plan to implement them into real-world operations. TSD staff solicits feedback on what went well (and what can be improved on) to make TSD a continued resource for special needs and preschool transporters.

Highlighted by the NHTSA Child Passenger Safety Restraint Training, the TSD Conference features attendees with several hands-on learning oppor- tunties on March 15. The NHTSA training teaches the proper securement of pre-school aged children in appropriate child safety restraint systems (CSRS) on school bus seats. It provides the basic rules of proper CSRS usage and illustrates the most common mistakes made when installing CSRS in school buses. Continuing education units (5.5 CEUs) are approved by Safe Kids.

TSD Conference also brings attendees two-hour courses on Emergency Evacuation Strategies for Students with Special Needs & Preschoolers and Prevention & Intervention of Behavioral Issues. Also on March 15, vendors BESI, Inc. and Q’STRAINT/ Sure-Lok also provide training overviews of proper securement of students in child safety restraint systems and in wheelchairs.
