Friday, March 15 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. | Frisco 6 ¢NHTSA Child Passenger Safety Restraint Training Hands-On Training Instructors: Kathy Anneken, Fred Doelker, Denise Donaldson, Miriam Manary, David Murphy, Sue Shutrump & Charlie Vits This training session approved by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration teaches the proper securement of pre-school aged children in appropriate child safety restraint systems (CSRS) on school bus seats. It provides the basic rules of proper CSRS usage and illustrates the most common mistakes made when installing CSRS in school buses. Continuing education units (5.5 CEUs) are approved by Safe Kids Worldwide for all registered attendees who complete the course work.
10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. | Frisco 2 ¢Emergency Evacuation Strategies for Students with Special Needs & Preschoolers Hands-On Training Presenter: Maria Carocci This comprehensive look at evacuation planning for students with special needs and preschoolers will cover the waterfront of potential issues and hurdles to conducting a smooth and quick evacuation during a school bus emergency.
1:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. | Frisco 2 ¢Prevention & Intervention of Behavioral Issues on School Buses Hands-On Training Presenter: Betty Hughes Learn how to implement effective techniques and strategies for proactively responding to escalating behaviors on the school bus that are linked to a student’s disability. Discover how to keep your staff and other students safe.
1:00 P.M. – 2:30 P.M. | Frisco 1 ¢BESI Hands-on Securement Training Receive instruction from BESI, Inc. representatives on proper child passenger securement in school buses. This class is a refresher class for TSD Roadeo contestants and main conference attendees.
3:00 P.M. – 4:30 P.M. | Frisco 1 ¢Q’Straint/Sure-Lok Hands-on Securement Training Receive instruction from Q’Straint/Sure-Lok representatives on proper securement of wheelchairs in school buses. This class is a refresher class for TSD Roadeo contestants and main conference attendees.

9:00 A.M. – 10:00 A.M. | Frisco 2 ¢Orientation Session Opening General Session Join TSD Conference staff as we preview the upcoming conference sessions and trade show, faciliate a week’s worth of peer-to-peer networking, familiarize attendees with the official conference app and scan badges, and answer your questions.
9:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M. ¢Roadeo Competition at Frisco ISD
10:30 A.M. – 11:45 A.M. | Frisco 1 ¢Wheelchair Securement & Occupant Protection Lessons from the Crash Lab Operations & Safety Presenter: Miriam Manary Learn the “whys” behind proper use of wheelchair tie- downs and occupant protection systems. This session will give participants insights into the importance of best practices in wheelchair transportation safety and will show crash videos that document the consequences of misuse. The content suggests new ways to explain the importance of “doing it right” to colleagues, students and families.
10:30 A.M. – 11:45 A.M. | Ranger/Sea Biscuit/Traveller ¢Using PBIS For Emotional Behavior Disabilities on the School Bus Law & Policy Presenters: Pat Ames & Amy Tiedens Learning how to use (PBIS) positive behavior interventions and supports on the school bus will assist school bus staff on how to interact and build a good working relationship with students who have emotional behavior disorders (EBD). Attendees will learn how to teach EBD students positive bus expectations and the bus staff will learn how to recognize the students for following the expectations.
10:30 A.M. – 11:45 A.M. | Frisco 3 ¢Head Start & Early Childhood Transportation Forum Leadership & Collaboration Representatives from the Office of Head Start facilitate a discussion with Head Start transporters at agencies and school districts to share information and resources as well as answer questions and promote transparency to increase safety and convenience for student riders and their families.
