Although the RYA has strong cash reserves, use of those reserves to fund strategic investment carries inherent risk. Careful monitoring is therefore required to ensure that sufficient financial resilience is maintained.
Property-related risks remain, although these are partly mitigated by the new five-year lease agreed with an existing tenant, which provides stable income. The RYA continues to monitor property market conditions and tenant performance, while considering the most effective use of its property and investment property portfolio in Hamble and Portland.
Through active risk management and regular review, the Board seeks to ensure that these uncertainties are managed appropriately while supporting delivery of the RYA’s long-term strategy.
This year’s report highlights the impact we are making together. It showcases the progress achieved through the dedication of our staff, volunteers, clubs, classes, training centres, stakeholders and partners. Our collective efforts are strengthening participation, championing sustainability, supporting excellence and giving a powerful voice to the boating community on issues that matter.
I hope this report gives you an insight into what we have delivered over the past year and the difference our work has had on our community. I also hope that in the year we celebrated our astounding 150-year anniversary, you can see the strong foundations we are building for the future. Reflecting on our past has only made our commitment to you and future generations stronger.
