Awards and impact

We’ve honoured those who continue to work hard for our clubs and communities, presenting awards to many deserving individuals and groups:

• Huge congratulations go out to all of our affiliates who have been awarded The King’s Award for Voluntary Service, the MBE for voluntary groups. They are:

• Testwood Lakes Sailability • Medway Watersports Trust

• Foyle Sailability • Safe Anchor Trust

Testwood Lakes Sailability said: “This honour celebrates the amazing contribution and hard work that our volunteers, past and present, have made over the years to grow Testwood Lakes Sailability into a successful and enjoyable charity to be involved in, enabling us to offer the freedom of dinghy sailing to a greater number of people with disabilities.”

• Our annual RYA Awards were held on 21st February 2026 as part of the RYA Dinghy and Watersports Show. The awards ceremony was a wonderful way to celebrate with our winners and hear their stories. Gathered together in one room, we could really see how our award-winning dedicated volunteers, inspiring coaches and marvellous clubs span generations. But all share one thing in common: their commitment to sharing the joy of sailing.

Getting more children onboard

We’re so proud of the impact we’ve had through our OnBoard programme, which gives children who would not otherwise get the chance an opportunity to try sailing.

Through our wonderful participating centres those children with enthusiasm and potential are welcome to come back for more, developing not just sailing skills but confidence and self-esteem.

In 2025, OnBoard celebrated its twentieth anniversary. In this time 1.3 million children have experienced the thrills of sailing through the scheme. We’re aiming to engage a further one million children and young people over the next decade, creating even more exhilarating experiences on the water.
