Chair’s statement

It is an honour to once again present my statement. This year has been an important one for the RYA as we look ahead to the future of sailing and boating, and the role we play in shaping it.

Three years aſter launching Together on Water, we have taken the opportunity to build on the progress made across our organisation and wider boating community. The result is a refreshed strategy that sets a clear direction for the next chapter of the RYA.

The ethos of Together on Water remains unchanged: we continue to champion the joy, freedom and lifelong benefits of being on the water. But this next chapter sets out how, over the coming decade, we will connect more people with water, strengthen the communities that make our activities possible, and help secure a sustainable future for boating and watersports across the UK.

The progress we are already seeing is a reflection of the strength and commitment of our members, volunteers, clubs, training centres, affiliated organisations, stakeholders and partners. Together, they provide the unique foundation that enables the RYA to make a lasting impact.

One of the greatest privileges of my role as Chair is meeting the people whose energy, passion and generosity make it possible for others to discover the joy of being on the water. Once again, it has been a pleasure to meet so many of you at the RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show, Connected events and other events throughout the year.

I would like to thank our members, volunteers, staff, Board and partners for their continued commitment and contribution. Our greatest strength has always been our people, and I look forward to seeing what we can achieve together in the years ahead.

Professor Sir Michael Arthur Chair, RYA Board
