Just like there are rules for cycling on the road, there are rules on the water for when you go racing. It’s designed to be fair and allow everyone a chance to get round the race course. You don’t need to learn the racing rules all at once. The basic rules of the road (see Chapter Six) are a good start.
KEEP CLEAR, if you are the give way boat, AVOID COLLISIONS, SAIL A PROPER COURSE, and GIVE ROOM (give another boat space to manoeuvre past a mark or obstruction)
