FEATURE WARM METAL AND HOT SPICE
Metallics serve a functional purpose in design and are rarely out of fashion, but their use does alter. In 2018/2019, we’re seeing a lot more warm finishes – golds, coppers, rose gold and bronze – and these finishes are often being incorporated into design in a way that isn’t too showy. Perhaps they are introduced just as an accent, such as an edging or in a geometric mash-up, or even inspiring glazes that aren’t necessarily metallic but definitely in the hot and spicy end of the spectrum. Dulux has recently announced its Colour of the Year as Spiced Honey, so expect to see a lot of saffron, ochre and honey hues.
