Hello and welcome to the December issue of Tomorrow’s Tile & Stone- our final issue of the year!

There’s no denying that this last year has been a big one, with statement prints, bright colours and large-format tiles only growing in popularity. Reflecting this trend, maximalism is a theme that features throughout this issue. Tile of Spain,

voice of the Spanish tile industry, shares its observations from the 2018 edition of Cersaie, where the only way was bold and beautiful. We also have predictions for

2019 tile trends from the likes of Real Stone & Tile and Topps Tiles, which indicate that this style is going nowhere anytime soon.

Looking forward to the year ahead, we’re focusing on the event that’s set to kick off

the new year with a bang for the tile and stone industry- Surface Design Show 2019. Once again returning to London’s Business Design Centre in February, the show is a must-attend event for architects, tiling professionals, designers and specifiers. If you’re interested in visiting, check out our show preview to make sure you have all the information you need to plan your trip.

With an abundance of options now available to young people when it comes to

further education and career opportunities, there is an element of worry amongst the construction industry about diminishing numbers of newcomers to the trade.

Discussing the benefits and incentives available to young people thinking of joining the tiling industry, Paul Doran, Southern Regional College and WorldSkills UK
