January is the perfect time to embrace change. The new year can herald optimism and a fresh way of thinking, and where better to put this into practice than in the home. For those looking for a head start on 2019, we’ve put together some top tips to ensure the year gets going with a bang.
Maximum Impact
From bold colour and luxurious fabrics to metallics and detailed pattern, maximalism is emerging as one of the biggest interior trends. The first principle to creating a maximalist-inspired interior is colour, and lots of it. Think rich, dark jewel tones of blue and green, or blush pink and deep red floral flourishes set against a dusky backdrop.
Whilst minimalism and other Scandi styles have encouraged homeowners to adopt a pared-back style, maximalism is all about embracing accessories galore to create a really cosy and comforting interior. Layering these beautiful hues against accent colours or materials, such as decadent golds or eye-catching silver, is a simple way to give a luxurious nod to this particular style.
In line with these trends, Topps Tiles recently announced Lampas Peacock as its first Tile of the Year, 2019, in collaboration with interior designer and TV presenter Sophie Robinson. Rich, warm and indulgent, with a beautiful brick-shape and in a deep shade of exquisite teal, the Lampas tile features distressed edging and a glossy finish.
The Lampas Peacock tile was selected for its dramatic style in light of the fact more and more homeowners are looking to invest in creating a luxurious sanctuary in their homes in 2019 and to stay put rather than move.
Magical Mosaics
The versatility of mosaic tiles means they are equally effective in different rooms around the home and will continue to have longevity for years to come.
In the kitchen, mosaic tiles are an established and popular choice for splashbacks because they are so versatile and hardwearing, saving walls from greasy marks and food splatter.
Mosaics are also perfect for use in the bathroom, whether in the shower, behind the bathtub, above the sink or any alcoves. Use in one block colour to contrast with - or complement - the colour scheme in the rest of the bathroom, or alternatively choose a bold pattern to create a point of interest in your customer’s interior.
