PRODUCTS & SERVICES Artistic Inspiration

Flair Rugs is releasing four new designs within their premium Luxmi collection as part of their ongoing collaboration with the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, home to more than two million objects spanning 5,000 years of human ingenuity in art, design, and performance.

Each rug is inspired by a different artefact from the V&A’s incredibly rich archive. With influences ranging from 19th

century Chinese motifs to the

glamorous age of Art Deco, the latest launches for this season showcase examples of exceptional design and craftsmanship.

Inspired by a fragile yet beautiful piece of Chinese wallpaper from 1860, Phoenix features a majestic central motif of a mythical bird, surrounded by blooming peonies. Hand-tufted in India and tip-sheared for a shimmering hued elegance and to echo the fragile nature of the original work, Phoenix comes in a charming combination of duck egg blue and ivory, in a 100% viscose quality.

For Moderne, Flair Rugs has returned to designs of the Art Deco period, referencing bold, geometric forms in an archetypal brown and ochre colourway.

Refreshed Looks and New Launches for SS18

Lano has refreshed some of its most popular lines in the Essenz collection and launched brand-new Scala Twist for Spring/Summer 2018, ensuring it continues to deliver the very best looks for the season ahead.

With the refresh of 1/10th gauge Fairfield Creations, Lano is bringing hot new colours to one of its most popular Essenz bleach-cleanable 100% PP ranges. Now with a 12-strong palette that includes five new heather colourways, Fairfield Creations presents a perfect coordinated look through two stripe styles. A more structured heather palette has allowed Lano to reduce the number of stripe options within Fairfield Creations, simplifying choice for homeowners while bringing a more sophisticated look.

Pembridge Heathers too has been given a makeover for 2018, reinforcing the importance of the high-value Essenz collection within Lano’s line-up. With new colours to reflect the latest looks in the home, the 14-strong heathers bring a classic, natural look with all the benefits of bleach-cleanable PP yarn. In four and

five-metre width options, the 1/10th gauge twist makes a great value choice throughout the home.

Scala has long been a go-to choice for education, social housing and care homes; and with the launch of Scala Twist for this year, Lano is making sure the collection continues to deliver a welcoming quality with the practical performance needed for these locations. A classic 1/8th gauge twist and featuring two-ply Essenz yarn for stain-resistance and easy maintenance, Scala Twist comes in 20 colours, with workman blues and charcoals and classic neutrals. With a newly-developed impervious foam backing, this is a collection that performs just as good as it looks. Scala Twist is a true all-rounder, just as capable in a commercial environment as a care home or school.

Inspired by a 1930s hand-knotted carpet given to the V&A by The Savoy Group, this rug is typical of the Art Deco Movement and undeniably elegant, hand-tufted in a wool-rich/viscose blend for a subtle radiance.

Based on a furnishing fabric in the V&A archive by Allan Walton Textiles, Rhythm captures the energy and sense of adventure of 1930s ocean voyages. Rhythm references the original aesthetic of the bold, rhythmic composition found in the archive piece, recoloured in a grey and ochre colourway. This rug is hand- tufted in India from 100% wool.

The work of French artist, Edouard Benedictus, inspires the final release for SS18. Rosa takes a detail from the artist’s folio, Variations, of 1924, which

showcased abstract floral motifs and examined intricate details from textile and wallpaper designs in vibrant colour. Flair Rugs has played on this, enlarging the scale and modernising with a seasonal, fresh colour palette to create Rosa. Hand- tufted in India from 100% wool, this rug makes a statement in any room.

All rugs are available in three standard sizes of 120 x 170cm, 160 x 230cm and 200 x 290cm.

The new additions join existing V&A Inspired designs - Jazz, Honeysuckle, Fanfare and Rhapsody - in the Luxmi collection, creating a series of beautiful hand-made qualities inspired by the world’s leading museum of art, design and performance.
