Ugly House to Lovely House
Moduleo flooring was used for a star-studded renovation project featured on Channel 4.
Products from luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring specialist, Moduleo, were used in a radical renovation project featured on Channel 4’s Ugly House to Lovely House.
The programme helps people with particularly ugly houses to refurbish the property into their dream home and is presented by architect and designer, George Clarke.
The episode, the fourth in the second series of the popular show, aired on Thursday 9th
November 2017 and saw award-
winning architect Chris Dyson transform a 1960s family home in Colchester into a 21st Century property.
Blackjack Oak 22220 and Latin Pine 24580 from Moduleo’s Transform collection were utilised throughout the property, which received a double-height steel and glazed extension as part of the renovations.
“Te project delivered a whole new
identity for te home and connected te family beter, providing a whole new sense of arrival and a stylish, homely annexe.”
The four-bedroom home had been extended previously and was a large house with a lot of potential. However, the interior was poorly laid out, restricting space for the family to live and spend time together.
Purchased two years previous for £650,000, the couple set aside £150,000 for the modernisation project.
Chris Dyson, an experienced architect with a career spanning 25 years who is known for breathing new life into old buildings, revised the home’s space and aesthetics to create a ‘dream scheme’ in order to get the most potential out of the property.
Whilst plans were revised to accommodate the homeowner’s budget, they adapted the existing structure and included a grand staircase and porch at the front of the house,

replacement of a conservatory and a double-height steel and glazed extension at the back of the home.
The project delivered a whole new identity for the home and connected the family better, providing a whole new sense of arrival and a stylish, homely annexe.
The scheme went over the initial budget and came in just under £250,000, however the home was valued by an estate agent post-project and the valuation was in excess of the homeowner’s estimation.
David Bigland, Managing Director for Moduleo UK and Eire, commented: “Having our products featured in this programme provided fantastic exposure for Moduleo and the flooring looked great in the home.
“The project showcased what a difference flooring can make to a renovation scheme and complemented the property’s new modern and stylish aesthetic perfectly.”
