Laminate flooring innovators BerryAlloc have teamed up with Factory Direct Flooring (FDF) to become the UK’s only supplier of their new High-Tech Laminate collection. With the latest addition to unveil, Tomorrow’s Flooring found out more about what they’re calling ‘the world’s strongest laminate floor’.
The BerryAlloc range combines high- spec performance with authentic and intricate design, and their High-Tech Laminate collection has already been installed at locations like Heathrow Airport and Volkswagen showrooms.
BerryAlloc represents the wood division of the Beaulieu International Group, who produces their wood and laminate products in three plants across Europe and Scandinavia; Norway, Belgium and France, to be specific. Its high- resistance design makes it ideal for application in areas of high-traffic and heavy-wear, and its aluminium locking system makes installation quick and easy, with a joint strength totalling an impressive 1,200kg.
The laminate in question uses some of the latest technologies on the market, including SilentSystem and AquaResist. So what exactly are these technologies all about?
Well, the sound absorbent underlay SilentSystem is pre-fitted to the back of the floor. This reduces room noise, when compared with floors without this underlay. It also considerably cuts down the transfer of walking and impact noise to adjoining rooms, and makes the floor more comfortable to walk on.
Meanwhile, the core material is AquaResist HDF board, which reduces the absorption of moisture to an absolute minimum. In addition, the edges are specially sealed against moisture penetration.

54 SO WHAT MAKES
IT SO STRONG? The floor is equipped with a patented aluminium locking system. This makes sure that the floor can accept very heavy objects such as a piano, heavy furniture or even a car (see the floors in the Volkswagen showrooms all over Europe) without opening joints between the planks.
The surface of all the floors in the Commercial collection is a high-pressure laminate (HPL) that is extremely durable allowing for heavy traffic. It is also many times stronger than most other laminates with a class 34 rating. The Original collection is recognised as class 33.
