GAME, SCHLÜTER AND MATCH

A multi-million pound tennis club project in Birmingham, which has been welcomed by professionals like Tim Henman, has used high-quality Schlüter products for the perfect finishing touch.

The reception and public areas of the revamped Edgbaston Priory Tennis Club have recently been installed with Schlüter-Systems threshold strips and Schlüter-DILEX movement joints. Part of a £12million, two-year project, the products were specified to protect and compliment this new state-of-the- art facility.

Now transformed into one of the most prestigious leisure and racquets members’ clubs in the country, the installation of Schlüter’s flooring protection means members, staff and guests can be reassured that what’s beneath their feet won’t affect their game play. Thanks to Schlüter-DILEX movement and control joints, the clubs new flooring is protected against cracks and pressure from pedestrian traffic and heavy loads, as well as appearing slick, stylish and discreet to match the interior.

Schlüter’s products have helped the Edgbaston Priory Tennis Club realise its vision and present a new sports facility equipped to welcome thousands.

The addition of the Schlüter-SCHIENE threshold strips has also meant that the brand new tiled flooring throughout such areas as the enhanced bar and restaurant, and the new function room, provide durability and longevity. Providing edging for tile coverings, Schlüter-SCHIENE protects tile edges from damage and keeps flooring secure and looking good.

Egbaston Priory Club is located five minutes from the centre of Birmingham, where it has been in- situ since 1964. However, its history dates back much further than that. The year previous, the clubhouse was destroyed in its entirety by a fire, and from this, two long-established clubs merged together; the Edgbaston Cricket and Law Tennis Club, and the Priory Lawn Tennis Club, which were founded in 1878 and 1875 respectively.

commented: “We are extremely proud to have played our part in this amazing re-vamp project. Birmingham is playing a leading role in cities outside London attracting top sporting events, and Schlüter’s products have helped the Edgbaston Priory Tennis Club realise its vision and present a new sports facility that is truly unique and equipped to welcome thousands of visitors thanks to its secure flooring.”

Movement joints from the Schlüter-DILEX range offer secure edge protection and maintenance-free solutions for surfaces exposed to continuous pedestrian and vehicular traffic. All profiles are installed at the same time as the tile covering and a wide variety of material combinations are available, depending on the mechanical or chemical stresses expected on the covering.

Schlüter-SCHIENE, the original finishing threshold strip, then offers the protection. It finishes tiled surfaces and protects the outer edges of ceramic and natural stone floor coverings from mechanical impact.
